Massachusetts Guide
Massachusetts is one of the smallest states in the US but that makes it even better, as you can see more of it during your trip. This is one of the original states. It has an interesting history; in fact it was on these shores that the first pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620. It is where the Salem witch trials, the Boston tea party and Paul Revere's famous ride took place. Massachusetts is home to the wonderful historical and multi-cultural city of Boston, the golden sands of Cape Cod and some of New England's best fall foliage.
One of the most popular and best nature areas of Massachusetts are the Berkshires. This hilly region is home to the well know Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail has over ninety miles to explore, you can hike or find a peaceful picnic spot for a relaxed afternoon. Cape Cod is the long arm that sticks out into the Atlantic ocean this is one of New England's most popular vacation spots so the traffic heading out to the cape can be bad, but its worth it when you get there. There are miles and miles of sandy beaches to visit. The area is very family orientated so there are plenty of activities to entertain everyone.
There is no shortage of history to investigate. Plymouth Rock has a replica of the Mayflower, Old Sturbridge Village is an entire working colonial town where you can see how people used to live and it is always a favourite with kids. Boston has Boston Common, Paul Revere's House, the Freedom Trail and the USS Constitution to name but a few of the great attractions there.
The state of Massachusetts has all four seasons so it can offer you a number of landscapes, it is an excellent destination for any type of traveller.
